Hi everybody,
I?m a guy that really wants to become a dentist but has one concern: my messy writing. I've always had messy writing and it is kind of freaking me out. So is messy writing a factor in you manual dexterity skills? BTW, my typing is pretty bad too.

Thanks guys, Great Site!

Dotors and dentists are known to have terrible handwriting. I see no link between handwriting and manual dexterity.

For what it's worth, my state shool required submission of a handwritten personal statement. Not really sure what the purpose of that was... but I have never written anything so neatly in my life.

That made me feel a little better adam, thanks. Even if my dexterity is not to good, i can practice to improve it.

Another Question: Why do doctors always have messy writing? 95% of all doctors i seen have messy writing; are they suppost to write like that (possibly because so patients dont make out prescriptions?)?

I think the reason doctors write so sloppy is because they are just sick of it. Don't you get sick of siging your name for credit cards, checks, etc? I certainly do and my signature has been reduced to a line in many cases.
Doctors write so many prescriptions that they probably just scribble to get it over with.
My sister had the best handwriting throughout her life until she became a doctor. Interestingly, her handwriting for prescriptions is about 10 times worse than if she is just writing a letter to someone.... I think doctors get the stigma from their prescriptions. Prescriptions really don't tell all about someones handwriting...

All my teachers compliment my hand writing and how neat my notes are. I think my neatness declines over the year.
  Will see how my handwriting goes down the hill after dental school.
