Bad Junior Semester

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I hope so, it's just shocking since I was optimistic about my grade up until this point sighh.

Quit fussing and take two of these:

Hey guys,

So a little about me, I started college a little rough, around 3.5 for the first year (B- in general bio 1). I got myself together and scrapped by a 3.95 for sophomore year and 4.0 first semester of junior year. I've been taking 18 credit hours per semester. Up to this point, my cGPA was 3.78.

My second semester junior year, this semester, I decided to only take 8 units to pursue an EMT certification. However, I ruined my positive trend by getting a B+ in general biology 2 (messed up on the final) and A- in biochemistry, getting GPA of around 3.53. I was wondering how much medical school would ask about this semester and how much they would doubt my trend? Thank you!

I do well on upper division bio and chemistry classes, but I struggle big time with freshman classes for some reason? Oh well, at least I'm done with them!

I mean I get that you had a "rougher" semester than earlier in the year, but a 3.53 is not a bad semester. A 2.53 or 1.53 is - relax and continue to improve next semester.

I see, that makes sense. Thanks for putting things in perspective!

Keep in mind that the AMCAS application displays your GPAs year-by-year and not term-by-term. When your junior year 4.0 of full-time college work is calculated together with 8 units of 3.53 (along with the EMT grades, if they were earned in a school, rather than an unaccredited program), it won't look like such a steep dropoff.
