Apparently yesterday the FDA Advisory Panel decided not to recommend the Neurostar device for approval, citing a lack of evidence for efficacy.
And in this month's green journal, ECT came out ahead of rTMS in a randomized controlled trial: http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/abstract/164/1/73
Granted, I don't know a lot about rTMS, but that doesn't sound very promising...
