hey everyone, so i'd really appreciate some honest opinions on my stats.

i have a horrible sGPA of 2.5, and a cGPA of 2.9. i've failed and retaken chem 2 (got a c the 2nd time), need to retake chem 1 (cause i got a c-), and have a W for orgo 1. chem has seriously killed my gpa. i know i shouldn't be giving excuses, but i've been working 3 part time jobs since i've started going to school. my parents haven't been able to support me because of our bad financial situation. i'm trying to do the best i can, but it's been really tough. i've had to help my mom with her business, and help out at my dad's church (he's the senior pastor) because they aren't doing too well. right now, i'm retaking orgo 1 and i'm thinking about withdrawing again...

with extracurriculars i've been volunteering as an EMT-B at my school's EMS program, and have gotten plenty of 911 calls. i'm also the public relations coordinator for them, and a volunteer BLS CPR instructor. i'm part of the leadership team for a new church plant, and the children's ministry teacher. right now i'm the youngest member of a literature association in my city.
i'll be starting volunteer work at an ER soon, and will be shadowing doctors during the summer.

i guess i want to know if i still have a shot at med school? credit wise i'm a sophomore right now (even though i've been in school for 3 years). and how bad is it to drop orgo 1 again?

thanks in advance for any feedback.

Dude I know how you feel (kinda) I'm not concerned about your low gpa seeing how you're in your second year. The problem is its your sgpa!! This is bad as you know. I too worked two full time jobs and took full time online classes..result...1.7gpa. If possible dont work as much and focus MORE on school. That job is temp but getting in medschool is your prime goal. You have to make nothing, I mean nothing but A's. When I was in your shoes I would freak out if my teacher even thought my paper/test/quiz deserved a "B". Do extra credit, tutoring, self learning on youtube, study groups. Fu&k your job, worry about getting in medical school and study at work a little if possible. I made nothing less than a 3.8 every semester after that 1.7 so know that it will be hard but bust your ***** and get it done!😎👍

I know you probably enjoy your EC involvement, but you really need to viciously cut things off of your schedule so you can devote time to doing well in this class. With a sub-3.0 GPA it will be very tough to even get your app looked at. You need to retake the CHEMs and do well in them, taking advantage of the DO grade replacement policy. Do whatever you can to scrape by, and minimize your EC involvement until you get your grades in order.

Consider taking time off from school so you can concentrate on your jobs, family responsibilities, and catching up with your finances. Med school isn't going anywhere. The longer you continue to earn subpar grades the longer it will take to bail out your GPA. After this term is over, get your head together and resume school when you can give 100% to earning straight As.
