Go to post 294, where I brought it back on topic. Then read the next post from student pox--going back to the idiotic porn thing. That is the point of derailment. Plus there are a bunch or irrelevant comments and likes or whatever supporting the OF TOPIC comments that followed. Bottom line, I put it back on topic, studentpox with his sad and distorted motivation from his world of woes against relationships hit the issue again, and then a few of cohorts supported it. After that there were some more irrelevant comments and buddy-liking here and there, and I am closing with saying the last dude to insult and act irrelevant and stupid has been put on ignore by me.

Continue with your badasses of medicine theme. Hopefully I won't get anymore alerts from irrelevant commentators or people that just like drama or polarizing situations.

Back to topic:

I will add, once more, I give loads of respect to ED, and to CC intensivits, and there is no way to avoid calling a lot of surgeons badass. I like the ones the best that know what they do is badass, but they haven't lost their sense of humanity and humility through it all.

What is even the point of the under-the-radar-crap that people do when they refuse to engage in fairness and civility and non-inflammatory, intelligent discussion? Seriously, I have to wonder what that really does for people. OK, then. Please allow me to show you and your "liker" how the "alert" system works. A SDN member signs into SDN. To the right they see a red number on their alerts. They check the alerts. So low and behold they are put on notice--in the same way the @Doctor Bob sort of "bat-signals" you to a thread. It so happened that another poster was making an unfair comment towards me. Upon addressing it, someone else commented with what happened to this thread--hence the two responses from me, one directly after the other.

It's the under the radar stuff that is problematic, b/c the moderators don't pick up on it, and I'm not really keen on using a lot of "report this post" stuff. So b/c I don't, the underhanded comments continue. Also, I never said, "I'm never coming back. " LOL. I said, I'm done--meaning I'm done with the stupidity of this idiotic cohort-gang-banging. I am not one to find bullying behaviors acceptable. And if you truly wanted to stay on topic, well, you started that way, but clearly DB, you didn't choose to finish that way. Why? See what I mean?

But I think this thread can highlight one of the bigger points of medicine. We all think our role is somewhat badass. I doubt there are many docs who go "yea, my role is pretty pathetic". Every field has it's "badass" moments. Sure, some fields have a greater density of those moments, but ultimately we're all doctors. And in the general milieu of society, that's a pretty badass job to have.

Neither is it like getting blood all over you from an exsanguinating patient--or any other not-so-lovely situations, which I've had the pleasure of being a part of in the hospital. Women and natural processes are ordinarily put down--even subtly. There is nothing new about that. And if that weren't bad enough, Hey, it's all good, b/c apparently it offends some physicians and/or those in the process of becoming physicians to share that porn and all that is associated with it dehumanizes human beings: women, children, men, whomever. Hell, I don't even remember had porn entered into the discussion. All I know is I let it go and went back on topic--now, several times.

So,Wow. Way to take "umbrage" against some well-studied phenomena that supports respecting women and their bodies and the ill-effects of porn. Whatever. Point is, I let it go and brought it back to topic, and then the banger/cohorts decided to keep riding the off-topic trail.
