Just wondering if anyone has been using a bamboo tablet or similarly equipped graphics tablets for handwritten notes in OneNote? I just got a generic brand from amazon, and it frankly sucks for handwritten notes. It seems the transition between hovering and writing is too slow, and the handwriting experience is too laggy. Any recommendations?

Do you have one in mind? There's a thread in the technology section about tablets.

I just perused, it looks like that thread is only for legitimate tablet devices. I'm just looking to augment my laptop with an active digitizer peripheral, since I'm pretty much tied to my current laptop as it was given to me by my school and I need to use it for tests and stuff.

I was looking at the tablets offered by Wacom, including the bamboo/intuos lines. I just need something that will do handwriting most efficiently, and at a reasonable active surface size for a 13" laptop.

I use the surface pro 3 and it's great for handwriting in onenote

Pencil from FiftyThree has the best experience and feel, IMO. However, it's not active.

The Bamboo top seller on amazon is nice, but I couldn't get over the feel and size of it, especially the active point. But thankfully, Amazon has an awesome return policy, so you're welcome to try it.

I have a Wacom Intuos tablet (forgot which model specifically) that I'm pretty happy with. I haven't used it for note taking purposes, but I imagine it would work pretty well for that purpose. I think I paid around $50 for it off Amazon.

A long time ago I got a Wacom Graphire for doing drawings. I loved it, pressure sensitive tip, wrote nicely, was great for digital drawing. I didn't use it for notes though. That was probably 10 years ago and I'm sure the technology has advanced a ton since then.

Also, a friend of mine has an Intuos and loves it. She does graphic design stuff.

tablet digitalizers are great for drawings and visual designs, for text input nothing beats the keyboard, imo
