These are 2 practice questions are from Barron's PAT review that seem wrong to me.

The respective answers according to the book are A and B.

#1, it seems like A can't be right. I chose C assuming the 2 tower type things at the top do not protrude past the back

#2, B is just plain wrong, the aperture doesn't show enough facets and is just... wrong. It seems to me like there is no right answer here

Those are terrible examples from what I'm used to seeing in CrackPAT and TopScore. I hope the real dat isn't that ugly.

I agree with you on the second choice 100%-- not enough facets there. As for the first one, none of them look right but they give you such a crappy angle, it's hard to tell. A doesn't look right for the fact that the backbone of the model isn't that thin.

None of these images are in proportion or anything.. ugh. Glad I know not to get Barrons.

EDIT: If you look closely at A, it appears that the backbone may actually be that thin. It looks like the upper portion is actually not as wide thus causing an optical illusion of a thick backbone. I think it's very clear the top DOES protrude past the back. For that reason alone, A has to be correct. When I do TFE or Keyhole, I just start matching up distinguishing traits until I find one thing in each choice except for one that doesn't work.. I hope that makes sense but it makes quick work. That would have helped you with the first example but again, the second is fishy.

That may be true for the 1st one, but the bottom part of answer A is too thick as well.

I suppose Barron's just sucks which is upsetting. Its my only resource atm.

Edit: also, its better to just go through the answer choices in these problems right? as opposed to trying to think of the 3 possible apertures before looking at the answer choices as barron's suggests

^Word. Barron's sucks. I've gone through all their practice tests and there are a LOT of errors. You've found hardly any yet but there will be a lot more trust me lol.

god damn, that was literally the 1st problem set i did. 2 errors out of 10 first questions is really great... go Barron's

I wasn't even looking there. That's too bad.. No right answer I guess.

I haven't heard bad things about Barron's prior to this? If you have the resources, I'd suggest CrackPAT. It works well for me.. I thought there were a few errors initially but they were just really complex problems.. Nothing like this mess.

yea the only reason i'm using this book at all is because its the only one i could get my hands on immediately and some threads here said that the PAT section is good...

doesn't seem like its the case

^I haven't had a chance to even start RC yet...and my test's Friday lol. I think I might have to wing it. Barron's RC may be spot on for all I know but their science tests are RIDDLED with errors and it was so annoying because I wasted time on some of them trying to figure out if my intuition was right or what the book said was right. I also used Barron's AP for biology which I felt was mediocre, Cliff's AP is probably much better.

I'm doing Cliff's now and its spot on with everything.. I'm also cross refrencing it with wikipedia and youtube just to make sure all my bases are covered. 👍

^I guess the take away message here is STAY AWAY FROM BARRONS. Unless you want to take tests that are easier than Destroyer questions but have multiple errors throughout.
