So i've been using topscore and the kaplan study book to get myself prepped and have generally found these two to be pretty on the spot in terms of accuracy of content. I was down at my public library and saw the barrons book which I promptly borrowed in order to access more questions. However, the barrons material seems to be poorly proofread. In the chemistry section for example, there was the following question

Catalysts increase the rate of a reaction by doing what of the following?

a) Decreasing the activation energy
b) Increasing free energy
c) Not relavant
d) Not relavant

From what I've read and learnt, Catalysts decrease the activation energy for a reaction to take place. However, barrons says that choice B is the correct answer.

In the bio section, there's 2-3 questions that have the same answers for 2 choices (word for word, i went back and checked twice). And no correct answer. However, the key gives one of the doubled-up answers as the correct one leaving me to believe that there's a misprint....

PAT, same discrepancies.....

Im not bashing barrons here but it really throws you off when theres errors like this....

BARRONS HAS ALOT OF ERRORS! i would go with A also. search this forum, someone put up answers they believed were incorrect.

yup, the answer is A. catalysts dont change the free energy of a system. there are quite a few errors in barrons as well as kaplan. i remember there was a post with a list of a bunch of them floating around the forum somewhere.

The answer is A. Barron's has a few too many errors. I looked it over as well and found the same thing.
