Hey guys.
for those of you who had interview at Barry.
any advice for hotel choices(where u stayed) and means of transportation to get to school from the airport( for those of out- of residents)?
which airport is it? any experiences or advices for travel would be appreciated.. thanks!!!

I interviewed at Barry on Jan 8th. I stayed at the hotel where they have a discounted rate for incoming students. I think its called the Wyndham and its right by miami int. airport. The school is about 20 mins from the airports and in the morning with a little traffic the drive could be about 30 mins. I used miami international but you could also use Ft lauderdale but its a longer distance from the school. I rented a car because I wanted to scout a few possible places to live when I go out there. I bought my ticket really late so it was quite expensive, I believe almost 400. If you buy early and during a sale you can do alot better. The rental was about 80 for the entire day so thats not bad. Search around for airfare Im sure you can find something good. Use studentuniverse.com, its a site for students, faculty and younger adults to buy discounted airfare for educational purposes. If that site doesnt work for you then just use experdia, orbitz or even southwest(Ft lauderdale only). The interview day lasts a while so dont have your return flight before like 5pmEst because depending on your number you might not be done and you still need to get to the airport. Other than that I dont think you need anything else. Good luck

MIA and FLL are about equal distance... book whichever is cheaper. MIA is a bit less milage, but the traffic can be worse.

Hey Feli,

I was wondering if you can give us some insights on how 3rd and 4th year was at Barry? Did you get to see a lot of patients during your rotations and do you feel your education prepared you for residency?? Also, since you've
already "been there and done that" ....Do you feel residency directors favor certain pod schools more then others? Sorry for all the questions but I have searched every thread in the pod forums for answers. Thanks!

does anyone know if renting a car when you're there is a good idea or do you have to pay for parking everywhere u go? im flying into fort lauderdale but still haven't found a hotel. thanks

You should be fine renting a car. There is free parking at the podiatry school. I think driving from FLL is much easier, due to traffic. Coming from MIA can be a bear at almost any time of the day. You could find a hotel in between FLL and Barry.
