Barry MSW

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't see any red flags when looking at the site. However, I am not familiar with the university, is it private? The curriculum looks like it has a clinical leaning, but that depends what you are looking for; we need to know a little more about your background and what you want to do to get a better idea. Are you geographically restricted? You should consider some of the well known schools in that state, such as Florida State, University of South Florida, A&M, etc....there are some that I probably forgot. They have more resources and I am sure they can provide way better funding than what I saw on the Barry website. Hope this helps, if you have any questions, pm me.

Well the thing about Barry is that they allow students to start in spring, fall, or summer...every other program I've seen only has a fall start, which means I missed the deadline already. I like Barry because it was in a good city, and was still open to apply. Besides that, I just want a program that has good therapy training and isn't crazy expensive.

See if you can talk directly to the practicum coordinator for the MSW program before actually applying and see if the school is willing to let you talk to current students in practicums in your field of interest. If possible as well see if you can access some current syllabi to make sure you are getting clinically trained.

After looking at the site again, the financials are not half bad, although I wonder the quality of the practicums at the discounted sites.....you may want to talk the practicum coordinator about that just in case.
