Hi everyone,

I just got an interview for Barry but really want to go to nycpm so I can stay close to home. Of course I applied to Barry as a backup (not planning on telling them that though). But I would definitely go far from home if I am getting a better education and better residency opportunities.

I have not received word from nycpm yet since all of my documents are not in but I do expect at least an interview invite. Therefore I would like to begin making a decision of which school would provide a better educational experience, smaller class size and better rotation and residency options.

Anybody have any info on either of these schools pls...

Please...I'm asking nicely:idea:

nycpm

I know many people have their own personal opinion since all pod schools are good schools, depending on what your looking for and what would make you comfortable.

I was hoping for some pros and cons of the schools, if you know about any, so that I can try to figure out what is best for me.

Thanks

If I were you I would just go wherever Lebron James goes. If lebron goes to the knicks than NYCPM, if the heat than barry, and if he stays in cleveland than OCPM.

I agree with the Lebron Comment. I will be a little giddy if Lebron comes to Miami too. I am from California and want to do my residency out there, but if Lebron comes to town, I miight stick around here for 3 more years for residency. They would be the ultimate big 3. Lakers are still my number 1, but Miami will be my 1.5.

Go to NY, we don't want you here in Miami. It would be one less person competing to buy tickets outside the America Airlines Arena to see the 3 Amigos.

You know the drill, All schools have their + and -. GO where you will succeed. If you want to be close to home, go to NY. If you are independent, then move away and go where you want to go and would enjoy this 4 year chunk of your life.

well if Lebron goes to miami and i am there, i'll buy an extra ticket for you 😉

I know all schools have the ups and downs, i am just wondering what some of those might be in current student's eyes? Do students at these schools feel they were prepared when they went to their rotations compared to other schools?

being prepared for rotations is based 90% upon the students themselves. They will be prepared based upon how they applied themselves as a student. Again, every school learns the same material and use the same books. The 4th year students I talked to from my school had different feelings on being prepared. The smart ones felt prepared and the lazy ones weren't. It's the same at every school. Breathing the air or drinking the water from one school will not prepare you better. But eating that midwest corn could give you a slight advantage, especially when it comes to basketball. They have a tall basketball team and were fun to play. See you in next years Basketball tournament.

This was the same way I felt and I ended up choosing NYCPM so I could live in and experience the city. I actually canceled my Barry interview. Both schools will give you the same chance to succeed. If staying close to home is important than choose NYCPM. And just for the record, Chad Ochocinco just said Lebron is coming to the knicks, and everyone knows Ochocinco is a very credible source.

He's going to the Bull because they are my team😀. Nuff said.😛

I know a few students that either transferred from barry to NY or NY to barry. All liked NYCPM better.

I agree with whomever said that feeling prepared is in the hands of the student. Do not rely on your school for that.

Yeah, living in NYC is so much better than living in Miami....Ny winters are a joy, cheap living, and you can get around very easily. Miami is terrible with its cars, sun, and beaches. By the way, the schools arent that much different if at all.

Thanks guys! I have my interview at barry monday. Anybody have any interview tips or anything I should know besides whats in interview feedback?

I've yet to hear from nycpm, but have been offered an interview by temple for this friday, which i may have to decline since it is for a waitlist seat, and i don't have days in which i can take off.

One final question:

If i get accepted to nycpm at this point, it will probably be for the January class, which ends in 2015, as opposed to the September class ending in 2014. How likely is it to transfer to nycpm after my first year at another school? I'm considering this in order to save myself a year..

most of the schools make you start over, transfer is not really heard of. I know of one person who transferred from NYCPM to Temple after 2nd year with out any penalties. I know of many others who had to start all over in order to change schools. The curriculums are the same but over a 4 year time span and do not match up well, year to year.
