These may be easy concepts for you, but Im making lots of mistakes when doing the test and finding the final product of some reactions. PLEASE HELP!
1) How do we know, in a reaction, when we have to apply Markovnikove rule? When is it Anti-Mark? I know how it works (H-goes to the carbons with more H .) I dont know when its Mark, and when its Anti?
ex: With H-X, Br2, Cl2 how the substitution/addition takes place in alkenes, or cycloalkenes? Cl2 is added to the ring only in 1,2 addition?
2) As a general rule Arenes follow Electrophilic addition, so If the arene is unbranched, then the addition takes place on the ring. right? If its substituted by e-withdrawing groups, and/or e-donation groups, how does the reaction takes place? Is it through nucleophilic substitution?
