Hey Everyone

I have a basic question that I'm sure has been asked a million times, but wasn't able to find any past posts clearly outlining the answer....Basically, I have a cousin who is a practicing orthodontist overseas who received all of her training at a foreign school....Can anyone tell me the basic steps she needs to take to get licensure in the U.S.??? Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, you're right it has been asked about a ZILLION times.

But the answer is pretty simple, just go to the sticky thread "Links of interest...." and find a link to an ADA document called "Dentistry in the US......Licensure for foreign dentists..." or something like it. Then download it, print it, read it VERY carefully, read it again, and then make any new question you might come up with.

Something else, his/her ortho education outside the US, won't be recognized here by the American Ortho Association or whatever the name is. Just to warn you in advance.

She'll have to do IDP ( 2-3yr program ) to get a license.
