I have read on SDN that Baylor decides on the day of your interview. Is this true? If so, when and how do we find out of the decision.

Yeah, they apparently decide at 5 PM the day of your interview with a AdCom meeting, while you are on your clinical tours. I think they add up your score from your interview and then a score from your application. Then, reading from previous posts from previous years, it looks like Dr. Lloyd Michael (Dean of Admissions) then goes through the people with the top application and interview scores, looks at LoRs and your application, and decides who he thinks should be accepted. They interviewed 624 in 2003-2004 for the 2004 entering class, and accepted 309, so nearly a 50% acceptance rate. 168 then matriculate. If I'm not mistaken, Dr. Major Bradshaw (Dean of Medical Education) will call you if you have been accepted. Does anyone know if Baylor is planning to call people starting on 10/15 (Saturday) or will wait until the following week? How often do they call people (every 2 weeks?) Anyways, good luck to all in the application and interview process. and JG198, good luck with Baylor.

A direct quote from Crazy Eyes, who I believe is/was a Baylor student and AdCom member, from an SDN thread dated 12/9/04:

The final decision isnt made by adcom on your interview Friday, just your final interview score. Dean of admiss. reviews adcom data including that score as well as GPA, MCAT, and score of written application and LOR in making final decision.
Cheers.

So...

Does anyone know how much time usually ellapses between the interview and notifiication? Do more competitive applicants find out sooner while on-the-bubble people have to wait till the very end? Also, do they notify you with an official rejection, or are you supposed to just take the hint after months of anticipation?

Once again, another quote from Crazy Eyes, on 10/22/04:

They try to call 2 weeks after an interview group which means in the MOST IDEAL circumstances the minimum amount of time it can take is 2 weeks, but typically they are calling people who interviewed much earlier and upon whom they have now made a decision. Limbo sucks but we have all been there- welcome to the real world. If they have decided to wait list you, you will get a letter telling you so, but it could be awhile as they want a sufficient population upon which they can make that decision. Also, if you are going to be rejected- THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU as they DO NOT HAVE A REJECTION LIST instead you are "at the bottom of the wait list" with a (now a quote from me) "snowball's chance in hell" of getting in."
