Anyone knows if Baylor is sending out MSTP interview invitations? My file has changed from "being reviewed" to "has been reviewed", but I haven't received any notification... darn, it must be a rejection then.🙁

When were you complete? I've been complete for ages and it still says 'being reviewed'....I wouldn't worry - I don't think Baylor starts interviewing until October so there's plenty of time to find out

real early, mid-July.

Thanks for the consolation.

By the way... now that the MD applicants have their own official rejection thread, I guess someone should start one for MSTP...

Is this bad news?

Does anyone remember how and when Baylor MSTP sends out acceptances? Is the decision independent from the med school (ie, if you're accepted MSTP, you're automatically accepted to the med school)?

Trying to judge how a bad MD-interview will influence my application....

This information is now 5 years old, so things may have changed a bit. I don't remember when I got my Baylor acceptance, but it was pretty early in the season (January?). The decision was independent from the medical school and I was accepted by both the MD and MD/PhD programs and could choose either. The MD program even threw a scholarship my way so it felt like both were trying to recruit me at once. BTW, my MD student interview was something of a stress interview, but I thought I handled it well at the time. I got to read the interview instructions for the MD interviewers, which was interesting because it even mentioned clinical experience could be substituted for strong research experience in the case of MD/PhD applicants.

Note that Baylor does not accept many right off the bat (Pitt, UTSouthwestern, and Hopkins funding are like this as well). The equivalent of an acceptance is an invite to "Candidate review" which is where nobody is "accepted" but you're back for an all expenses paid second look that's just like any other school's except you have more interviews and have to dress in a suit. Now, when I was there I was actually accepted but they told me not to tell anyone, which I found exceedingly lame. Then again, I find the whole concept of a second interview for MD/PhD very lame. Essentially what these schools want to hear in these second interviews is that you will definately come there. That's all you have to say and you will likely be accepted. For various reasons, they don't want to give acceptances to people who won't come.

I do get accepted by Pitt "right off the bat", so I consider myself very, very lucky to be able to gain admission into this great school. I withdrew from baylor after getting Pitt acceptance partly because I wasn't into that second-round interview. Hopkins doesn't have round two interviews but does make you wait a bit. I think they accept two people in November and the rest will be notified next year (perhaps Solitude or someone who was there may correct me on this?)

It's not bad news. They did that to me a while ago and after two weeks I had an interview invitation. :luck: to you.
