Hey there. I will be coming to Baylor for Ophtho in June of 2007 and wanted to know from the current residents if there are any major changes in the curriculum now that Methodist and Baylor have split. Have the new eye clinics for Baylor opened yet because during my interview they still had not completely moved to the new building yet. I'm really excited about coming there. Ne other news about how the program is doing would be good. Thanks and look forward to meeting the current PGY-2's and PGY-3s very soon. You can reply either to this post or my email at [email protected]

I'm one of the med students that will be sticking around here at Baylor. There aren't any major changes in the curriculum at all. Baylor had shared the OR space with Methodist... and the location of the attending's private practices were at methodist. You're training comes from Ben Taub, Texas Children's, and VA. Not much at all from methodist... except you just learn from the attendings from their private clinics. So, you're training won't be affected at all. The only thing that has changed may be where you operate with the attendings if you're on private clinics with them, since their clinics will be moved to the new building. The new building isn't completed yet.. but it is in the works. The strength of the program has always been the county, VA, and children's. All the faculty are staying with Baylor. Methodist is only important because of the physical space that was being shared. Hope this helps.
