I just got asked to do secondaries by Baylor but I don't know if thats a sign that they want to continue with my application or a formality. If I have 0% chance of getting in then I don't want to spend any more money to fill it out. What do you guys think?

Are you OOS? Either way, all applicants are required to complete a secondary at Baylor. If your application is excellent, then you have a chance at Baylor. They seem to always include a few OOS into their school each year 🙂

Consider it a $35 lotto ticket to get into one of the cheapest schools in the nation.

i'm OOS and i've been procrastinating completing the secondary because their website they don't even review OOS applicants until after the september 30th application deadline. plus, i was a little worried that my application would only be seriously considered with a great DAT score.

i've been looking at it the last few days it looks like i have to write a second personal statement just for them and an essay about why i'm interested in a texas dental school. not looking forward to writing two more lengthy essays, but i've heard the school is worth it.

side question: their website mentioned they are shifting the curriculum to what they call evidence based learning. is this just another way of saying PBL?

I'm in state; right down the street actually, lol. I talk to Baylor last week and they said my oGPA was low and was hinting at a Master's program, thats why I'm asking. thnx guys!!

The evidence based learning is just the ability to continue learning throughout your career. They want you to be able to look at the latest literature and apply it in your practice.

Really? That's interesting. They didn't mention anything about it during the presentations before interviews, but I wouldn't be against something like that really. Do you think it could cause them to start weighting RC a little more heavily with this proposed curriculum change or anything?

OP, as previously mentioned I would definitely do whatever is necessary to complete the secondary. What could it hurt to try? Baylor is an amazing school and your investment would more than pay for itself in the long run 🙂 good luck! I really hope to hear from Baylor come December 1st or any other time for that matter! :O

might I ask what your stats (gpa etc) are? I'm just wondering because I was in the same situation (low gpa, decent DAT). I applied in 2010 and didnt get any interviews/acceptances. I'm a year into a M.S. in Biology and have a year left, which would be complete by beginning of dental school, were I to be accepted. I haven't heard anything from any of the schools and am starting to get worried 🙁..
