Hi,

Can someone who is currently in this program comment on the opportunity to perform procedures? I have read that it is predominantly inpatient and outpatient exposure is lacking. Is this true?

I'm just trying to get an honest opinion about this program as well as others in Texas.

Thank you

I'm a current PGY-2 in the program. Traditionally the program has been inpatient heavy, but over the last few years there has been a big push to shore up our outpatient experience. I had 3 months outpatient experience this year doing EMG & outpatient MSK which were joint injection heavy. There's also ongoing anatomy and ultrasound workshops. There's more phenol/botox later into PGY-3 and PGY-4, with interventional spine experience as a PGY-4. The denervation procedures also get worked into our inpatient rotations as our patients with spasticity get those types of treatments regularly. Every year there are a couple of grads who go into interventional pain. PM me if you have any more questions!
