Just wondering if anyone has any input/opinions regarding the Baylor split from Methodist Hospital. I am not too familiar with all the details, but from what I have been told, nearly half of the neurology department left as well as nearly all of the neurosurgery department. Anyone have any more information on this situation and how it will affect the program and department? Thanks!

I too have applied at Baylor, and am preety familiar with the department there. Yes...in fact the department has shrunk and not so lucrative as before due to lot of reshuffling done by Dr Traber (Baylor new president). In one of the interviews which I attended, the chairman there mentioned: .." what is baylor without Dr Apple....". So you can gauge the impact which the department had after Dr Apple joined methodist. Dr Apple was one of the pillars of the department for 30 years as chairman. I suppose he has been one of the longest chair of nerology (before joining Baylor, he was chair at Duke...I think). All said, nevertheless Baylor still has a name and is lucrative because of its presence in Texas Medical Centre.

Thanks for sharing the article; it was quite informative. I will be interested in seeing what the folks at Baylor have to say about everything that has transpired when I interview with them. If anyone else has any thoughts, please share.
