Hi,

Just have a quick question... I grew up in Texas (resident) from about birth to 16 y/o..Then due to a family situation I left the state and thats where I currently am at...

Anyways, so i spent most of my life in Texas and thats where I plan to live when I get done with school..

Do you think Baylor (or other Texas schools) have any love (lol) for me? I have okay stats (3.65 GPA)..

Thoughts?

It depends. I know it is extremely competitive to get into Texas schools if you are not a TX resident. However, because you lived in Texas for so long, it may not be a factor.

If you are a Texas Resident you should be fine. I have an interview at Baylor in two weeks. Here are my stats so you can have a measuring stick, they are nothing special, just average. What did you get on the DAT? My buddy go the same score as me and has an interview the same day, but another buudy go a 19 and didn't recieve an invite.

No, I said I grew up in Texas for 16 years then moved out of state for the last 4 years, so technically, I'd be considered out of state..

Baylor has a very lengthy form they make you fill out regarding residency involving a notary and everything. I think if you're not a resident, you'll be competing with all other out-of-state applicants.

This is probably a question that can only be answered by a representative of Baylor itself. You should just call the adcom office. I interviewed there last week and the front desk lady Janet Pledger is SUPER nice. She'd probably have the best answer for you.

Or, if there is some way to legally claim yourself as a Texas resident, that would probably be the best way. Although I have no idea what criteria being a texas resident would entitle.
