I know you have a lot to deal with right now, but it would help out those of us still dealing with AMCAS if we could go ahead and get started on those secondary questions. If only to give us something else to do.

Please post them.
Thanks

I'll save them some time and at least do JHU for you. It's very redundant in comparison to the AMCAS app. They want colleges attended, to know if anyone you're related to went to JHU ("Although we do not use this information in our selection process" - then why bother asking?), criminal offenses, and parents and sibling info.

The questions are as follows:

14) Descibe how you selected your undergraduate school and major area of study: (You get about 2 inches)

15) If you have already received your bachelor's degree, please describe what you have been doing since graduation, and your plans for the upcoming year. (2 in)

16) If you interrupted your college education for a semester or longer, please describe what you did at that time. (1.5 in)

17) List academic honors since entering college

18) List paid employment since entering college. (1.5 in)

19) Unpaid extracurrics, hobbies, interests and travel. (2 in)

20) Most rewarding experience or something you're proud of. (1.5 in)

21) Any areas of medicine of interest and comment (1.5 in)

22) List rec letters.

And they want $60.

Let's see:

Michigan:
List 6 extra curriculars that have caused you to want to pursue medicine. Write one essay on ONE of those that has helped to solidify or cause you to want to pursue medicine.

Stanford:
Ummm...shoot...I can't remember right now...but basically just something about what makes you unique or will contribute to your experience at Stanford.
For this one, I JUST REUSED the Michigan one...b/c I am lazy! haha
I will try to post the full one later...I gotta get back to work right now though...

You may not have noticed SDN's new option: the Private Message. Rather then emailing or posting threads to individual users, you can send them a Private Message by clicking on the icon above their message in another thread. If they have set their parameters to do so, they will be notified via email that they have received a Private Message. Its a very handy tool to have and provided people check their messages, much easier than searching the forums for messages. 😀

Isn't this an informative thread for everyone though?

I'm reading. Please do keep posting here, if you don't mind. Lots of us seem to be interested in getting started on secondaries that we haven't gotten yet, and this is quite helpful.

I'm not applying to Stanford, so cant help anyone there. And the other 2 schools are already described by my helpful colleagues.

Hmmm... I might actually have it wrong...I guess you can't just write about one activity as I did on the Michigan one. I am confused as to whether they want us to elaborate on the things we have done and listed in the EC's on the original application or if they want us to list or if they want 6 mini essays...can anyone fill me in on what they think Stanford wants???? Oh..there is another line too:

"You do not need to repeat information already given on the AMCAS application. Do not include high school activities UNLESS you have continued the activity while in college."

So, then I don't have anything to say! haha

Here's the question:

8. The Committee on Admissions regards the diversity of an entering class as an important factor in serving the educational mission of the school. Although answering this question is optional, the Committee on Admissions strongly encourages you to share unique, personally important, and/or challenging factors in your background, such as the quality of your early educational environment, socioeconomic status, culture, race, ethnicity, or life or work experiences.
Please: a) discuss how such factors have influenced your goals and preparation for a career in medicine, and b) describe in detail (to the extent not included in previous answers) your involvement in campus or off-campus activities, paid or unpaid, in terms of community service, assumption of leadership roles, activities related to the care of others, etc.

Let me know what you guys think...

Question to those with Stanford secondaries. Is that one question that Scooby has posted on this thread the only secondary question? How much room do they give?

Yes..that's the only one..there is about room for 300 words I believe.

scooby:
i was curious how you got notification from stanford about their secondary. email? regular mail? is the secondary online or paper? thanks... 🙂

synite,

the invitation to complete stanford's secondary comes in the mail, but the secondary is online. hope that helps.
