BCOM New Mexico- Tuition - $68,000

PROS
  • pass/fail grading system
  • Renovated school with new amenities, separate medical library, big campus
  • Close to New Mexico state university - able to access all of their facilities/events
  • Community oriented - lots of opportunities for community outreach
  • Gears curriculum toward board prep
  • Rotation sites in Florida
  • Residency match rate - 99%
  • EXAM schedule: Varies block to block. Most often every 2 weeks, however, there are blocks where you have quizzes at the end of every week followed by a cummulative exam and there are blocks where you have an OMM exam in-between your didactic exams.
  • Lectures are optional

CONS
  • Far from home
  • Newer school, potentially less connections
  • Most recent first time pass rate for first time- COMLEX 93% ( highest since school opened)
  • for-profit institution
  • Cannot find as much info as VCOM regarding stats
  • Does not provide list of elective rotations, current student said each hub rotation site has their own to choose from



VCOM-Carolina’s: Tuition - $51,800

  • Older school, more established - more connections
  • International medical missions trips - also opportunity for an elective rotation
  • Community oriented - community outreach opp
  • Gears curriculum toward board prep
  • Rotation sites in florida
  • Residency match rate - 99-100%
  • Comlex first time pass rate 98%
  • An abundance of elective rotation options

CONS
  • Letter graded system
  • 2 exams per week
  • Mandatory lecture attendance 70%, 30% of allowable absences
