Why count mathematics?

Why count mathematics?![]()
Why not BC? Who needs physics...
This is probably just cliche, but really I think it's included because it's the language of the sciences. An adept knowledge of math is kind of important for science in general.
And really, all the other sciences stem from or are related to mathematics.
math is the language of the universe...meh.
I can see how biostatisics or something would be relevant...but calculus? When was the last time an MD had to work with integrals or derivatives?
Rads? Maybe?
When was the last time an MD had to draw a newtonian mechanics diagram? When was the last time an MD cared about the process of photosynthesis?
I thought we were all far enough along in our education to realize the content of our courses are not all that valuable to our future work and the pre-reqs are more about teaching cold hard scientific thinking and weeding out the fools.
And where would we be without adam smith..."Science is the great antidote to the poison of enthusiasm and superstition." Adam Smith (1723-90) Scottish economist. The Wealth of Nations, 1776.
"To say that a man is made up of certain chemical elements is a satisfactory description only for those who intend to use him as a fertilizer." Hermann Joseph Muller (1890-1967) U. S. geneticist. Nobel prize for medicine 1946.

Mathematics is the queen of all sciences. That's why.

Damnn is Thomas Jefferson still giving letters of recommendations?
The queen prefers a consort, not a king. She is entitled to first rank.
😀He's the king, alright. He's taking applications from those who fail out of their BCMP classes to become subjects of his kingdom.
