I failed the spring 2019...got a 474/500. Any tips or resources would be great...retaking in the fall. My accp books were from 2016 so I had to order the new 2019 books that just got released in May 2019.

How different is the newest version?

I used ACCP and ASHP. They complement each other to fill in the gaps. However, if you are able to read and work on all the questions in the ACCP book including the patient cases I think your chances will be higher. Also I found this free website VERY useful....pharmacyquestionbank.com...100 pharmacotherapy questions and a section of 42 questions for the biostats (helped me a lot). I worked on all the other sections in the bank though...geriatric, pediatrics, etc. Sounds overwhelming but go for it. Good Luck!

I know that HTN, DM, HLD and COPD guidelines were updated in 2018... I only know this because I work in Amb care. Not sure if inpatient stuff was updated or not.

I plan on taking the BCPS next spring 2020, what did you feel about the exam? What do you recommend? Which part did you find most difficult? I was thinking about reading the naplex book to review and get started... what do you think? :writer: Any tips will be appreciated by a lady :giggle:

Why can't I message you?? :(

Hello, what’s the best source to use for laboratory values? I am seeing slight variations from different websites.

Was anyone able to purchase the new updated material from ACCP? Are there major differences from the previous years?

I found that any questions requiring identifying patient lab abnormalities had answers that were not impacted by slight variations in reference ranges.

I passed BCPS and BCCCP last year, and was helping co-workers study for the spring 2019 exam. They both were unsuccessful. When we discussed their exams, it seemed that they added many more questions on the pharmacoeconomics, management sections that have steadily been expanding in the ACCP study guide. They didnt focus on those sections much, and felt that was probably where they had some issues. My exams barely covered these topics.

I passed the Fall 2018 BCPS with the ACCP book. I read the major disease states (HIV, Oncology, DM, etc) and focused in on statistics and laws. The BCPS oddly emphasizes statistics, so know how to calculate things like odd ratio and choosing the right statistical test.

I'm about to purchase the ACCP study material for BCPS but wanted to know if the standard package (>$600) is worth it or is the workbook good enough alone?

I just took
hmm not sure?!
i just took it this morning . PM me

I recently took my bcps recertification exam. Most of the questions were on management and pharmacoeconomics! Barely had any cases! It has fallen off my interest! If it's not going to add much to your career, I'd recommend to skip it for something else! They even had questions on the PGY2 residency for fu$#*k sakes! Lol!

I agree with you. Hardly seemed like we were testing to be "pharmacotherapy specialists", and instead "policy and regulation specialists". Kind of disappointed tbh.

I am taking BCPS tomorrow, I am barely prepared for the exam. I got through some clinical videos on High Yield Med Review but that's about it. Life and work crisis just killed my pace and motivation. I plan to retake in Spring 2020 (May). Maybe I will get through some regulatory tonight but for the most part, just taking the exam as a try out at this point.

Don’t waste your money on exam banks or mock exams.

I would recommend not to disclose the details of this exam. It wouldn’t be fair And it is regarded as professional misconduct to do so.

Also, disclosing these specific details is not helping. More people get to pass; they may cancel it or curve higher than it should have been. Exam is ongoing until end of October.

I just took the test and of all the 4-5 questions I looked up I feel like I answered them all wrong. I am convinced I am taking the test again in spring.

I took the exam yesterday, I felt like 70% of the exam is policy, regulations and stats. And some of those were very random questions. I just hope I don’t have to retake it.

Just got an email saying scores will be released 1st week of December. I really hope it doesn’t take that long!

This is seriously the longest wait of my life. Took BCCCP on Sept 27th. I’m sure they’ll be out by thanksgiving but that is not stopping me from manically checking the site daily. I just went to do my daily site check and the websites currently down.

Does anyone know if BPS sends an email when the scores are released or do we need to check the website around Thanksgiving? Last year, it looks like the scores were released around November 22nd-ish, per the SDN postings. Thanks in advance!

Based on the trends I’ve seen the scores are usually posted starting the Monday of Thanksgiving week and appear randomly without an email. Some have said their name appeared in the “ find a board certified pharmacist” before the actual score posted but I’m not sure how accurate that is.

Yeah the average wait time is about 6 weeks. So I’m thinking it’ll be 2 weeks from now. 3 at most. Still sucks though

Last year's thread had some ppl starting to get results Nov 20th. Most of them said the score came first, then the verification. One person got their results the 20th and then the name showed on verification the next day

Where do our scores appear? Will it be on the BPS website under "recent/upcoming exams?" Under system message for mine, it still says, "You have 1 certification app awaiting exam. Review"

Since I took the exam, I decided to block it out of my life due to the anxiety I get thinking about the result. I checked for the first time today and I wish I never did cos my anxiety is back in full force. I would rather not sit through such a mentally exhausting exam again. 2 more weeks I guess.. *sigh*

I agree with both of you. I was refreshing the site yesterday like an idiot. I do find this “wait 60 days” to be asinine in 2019. I just want to know to formulate a game plan if I have to retake. I’m just glad I’m not the only one who has gotten to this point and is sick of waiting.

Some of the people I've talked to got their results this week last year. I sure hope we get it before the end of the week, I'm sick of waiting.

The only thing that has me skeptical about results coming this week or next week is that last years testing cycle ended a week earlier. This falls cycle was 3 weeks in duration compared to 2 before. I’m hoping that doesn’t set the release back into December :/

Ugh, you're right! That does line up with the email they sent saying results will be released first week of December... that's awful.

I've been told that the long wait is because each question gets evaluated by the person who wrote the question(s) and determines how well the question performed and if the question gets thrown out or keyed to take multiple answers etc.

The official release (bps announcement/email) is early december but scores have been uploaded this week last year. Someone mentioned that the test period was shorter last year, which is true, by a week. Im thinking fall 2019 scores will start to upload next week.

That’s what I’m thinking too. Just a difference of 1 week so between Monday and Wednesday of next week before they close for thanks giving

I’ll put my money on Tuesday. For no specific reason beyond that they released last year on Tuesday before Thanksgiving ( the year before it was release the Sunday after Thanksgiving)
