Well there are my grades^. Trying to get in to medical school. I don't know how much my past is going to effect me. I have 2 semesters left and trying to get straight A's before applying. Taking the MCAT next fall. Basically what I'm asking is it possible?

PS awesome video haha

After an earlier fiasco, not click on that link!

I think Catalystik meant for you to copy and paste your grades into the actual message instead of making us download your word document to see them.

LOL sorry guys didn't sleep much last night!

Can you break it down even more? How about GPA? I don't want to scan through every class you have taken, looking at how many credits it is worth. Credits vary by school, so it is not really necessary. Neither is the course abbreviation and numbers for the same reason.

From eyeballing it, this doesn't look too bad. You have a lot of B grades which may bring down your GPA.

Sent from my iPod using SDN Mobile app. Please excuse the typos.

You have some B's, but that's not an application killer. Your chances at MD will depend on your state of residence, too. If you live in CA, then I feel bad for you. However, if you live in Texas then you've got a good shot at MD. Regardless, you'll want to apply to a few DO schools as well.

All this is assuming you get a decent MCAT (30+)

Well I just moved to a University form a community college and I'm currently in my second semester. I got a B and and a B- and my gpa dropped to a 3.18. Never knew that could happen that fast. I know bringing it up is going to be hard but thats the only think I can do. As for MCAT still haven't taken it yet. I'm really not interested in going to DO school so that would be a bummer if it was the only option.

Hey Tarheel why do you say that? Whats the difference between TX and Cali?

I think he is talking about how Texas med schools (the state has both M.D. and D.O.) are very friendly to its residents.

California doesn't really care.

So is there a chance for MD school at all?

There's always a chance as there are those handful of applicants that make it in with such a low gpa. However, those same applicants might have a stellar mcat, great life story, an abundance of breath-taking ECs (no idea what qualifies lol), etc...Just know that while there's a chance, the lower your gpa is and the lower your mcat, the less of a chance you have. The best thing you can do is to get an A in every single class from here on out, destroy the mcat (don't try, you actually have to destroy it), and add in some worthwhile ECs if you can. Good luck :xf:

As long as you keep your GPAs above 3.0, get an MCAT of 30+, and manage a string of As in upper-level Bio/Biochem, you might qualify for an SMP (Special Masters Program) where a 3.7 GPA has the potential of overriding your undergrad GPA. This is not a traditional masters that results in a usable degree, but rather, a paid (expensive) audition to med school where you compete with first year med students for top grades. See SDN's Postbaccalaureate Programs forum for more information.

CA has a lot of highly qualified applicants competing for schools that don't really love their own state residents (except for UCD). Texas has numerous schools that basically only take their own. Most low stat applicants can get into their state schools because of the instate bias but CA residents don't have that kind of safety, so it kinda sucks.

Anyways, just do well from now on, get some good EC's, and I see a chance if you do well on the MCAT. It probably won't be the easiest application cycle but meh, it's fine.
