Hey everyone,

I am applying this coming cycle and was just curious what the consensus was in regards to having a beard during interviews. My beard grows in full and isn't patchy at all, I really want to keep it because I look way too young without it. If i trim it up and keep it shorter will that be ok? Or is the best bet to just get rid of it?

clean cut beard styles - Google Search:

It is sort of this length and this is how i would trim it up for an interview.

I would just shave it. You'll hear both sides justified on here, but from a couple family members on med and residency committees at different programs there are always the older conservative adcoms who won't approve, I shaved for all my interviews.

99% beard is fine
1% you will get a conservative interviewer
I personally didn't even risk the 1% and shaved. You don't look as young as you think.

If it’s well-groomed, then keep it.

7/7 on acceptances with a short well groomed beard this cycle

Go for it

Kept a nice short stubble and have multiple acceptances. I am better looking with a beard so why not optimize your chances? I think there is official data that shows better looking people get the nod in interviews due to first impressions etc.
