I think last time I posted this in the wrong forum. Second time lucky?

Well I've been pretty busy in school at the moment and have decided I do want to pick medicine as a career.

I was looking at becoming a GP in a hospital.

Though in France we have three choices of Baccalaureats. I think I'll need to do a scientific one to become a doctor with a specialization in Biology which isn't a problem.

What I want to know however is: What should I start reading now (i'm 16) to start learning about becoming a doctor and Biology in general.

And how much is maths needed? I suck at maths but I'll work extra hard if I have to.

Thanks for your time!

Thanks, sorry about posting in the wrong bit!

Anyone care to answer my question? (Not wanting to sound rude)

I'm not sure for French schools but probably pre-calc, statistics, and alegbra. Je Ne Sais Pas.

i'm one of the few who hated biology in high school. never took it in college. i think if i would go back i would focus my reading & curosity on the "CELL" aspect of Biology. Understanding the cell will make, for me atleast, med school a little less hectic. good luck!!

Well I just talked to a Doctor and he said I would need to get my maths up a little bit to understand the physics.

But aside from that he thinks I could become a doctor 😀

aww 🙂 . well, most people who study medicine have completed maths up to the calculus level, with the math involved with physics, chemistry and biochemistry. I don't think you necessarily need the calculus, but it'd be helpful to have some statistics and probability (usually learned before calculus). You do not need calculus-based physics either although it can help with your understanding of calculus.
