Are there any 4th years here who have sat on an adcom at their school? Does this help your resume when applying to a residency position? I am curious because I might go that route?

I guess most 4th years are just too busy to be in this forum.... Just wanted to bump this up cause I thought it was an interesting question left to be unanswered. 😀

Oh yeah, we're REAL busy! 😉 Since my experience wouldn't be helpful, I'm calling out Stinky Tofu, Great Pumpkin, neurogirl, kiddiedoc1, tussy, Future Surgeon...did I miss anyone?

Kimberli...which school did you attend? I enjoy reading your posts and was just curious.

Thanks for bumping up this question. Either 4th year adcom members are not present, or they do not wish reveal themselves, fearing the wrath and questions of the pre-med groups 😀

Thanks. I attended Flinders Univ of South Australia.

Col 4:14 - Oh, I doubt they're "scared" of a bunch of pre-meds; at least not as much as your MCAT carrying postal person! 😀

They're probably just busy packing boxes (except for Great Pumpkin who is staying put) or enjoying one of the few remaining holidays they/we have left! I'm emailing them anyway about something else, so I'll ask them to stop by this thread.

Did someone say "MCAT".........

Any day now... 😛

I am a member of an AdCom at a school in the midwest. I started on this committee at the end of my second year and am now entering my fourth year of med school. At least where I am at, student reps (which I am!) are voting members on the committee. I really don't know if this is going to significantly help my CV, but I was really interested in seeing the hows and whys of the whole process. This interest came after sitting in my first and second year classes thinking, 'how did this guy get into medical school?!!'. After two years on this committee, I see that there is a method to the madness. I would encourage anyone interested in getting on an AdCom to go after it. While it may not directly help me with getting an interview with a residency program, I do feel that the whole experience of evaluating people has honed my skills at presenting myself. It is very useful to see how and why people react to those sometimes all too short interviews. Hope that answers your question.

Cassidy, thank you so much for your advice. At my school, the student Adcom members have voting rights as well. I will check it out!!!
