I was wondering if any one would be interested in posting their GPA before and after course retakes for DO. School? Im just curious of the significance and impact the retakes made in obtaining acceptances.
Not to be condescending, but you know how to calculate GPAs, right? If so, I recommend you do this for yourself now vs. after successful retakes of whatever courses you're thinking about.
If you do this, then your question becomes a matter of who has retaken courses and gained acceptances. There was a thread with that same intention recently, but it didn't work out very well for that. Good luck! 🙂
same here. i had so many other courses by graduation that it didnt really make a dent into raising my GPA at all. but admissions committees did seem to like that I was taking courses, both retakes and post-bac.
depending on what your GPA was prior to retaking the course, your GPA can increase significantly. For example, if you retook 3 classes that you received C's in (2.0) and received A in them (4.0), you will find your GPA to go up quite dramatically. But of course this really depends on how many overall courses you have taken to this date. I found my GPA to go up by .1 after retaking two courses that I received B's in.
My GPA after retakes was 4.0, I also discovered a cure for cancer and will the accepting my award for world peace in a few weeks. Do you see where I am going with this? So, take what you read here with a grain of salt.
In regards to GPA I'm not sure if this applies across the board to all schools (I'm pretty sure it does though) but at mine the classes taken during fresh and/or soph year have more weight in terms of boosting your gpa up as opposed to retaking a class that you took during junior/senior year. It's prob. because your gpa has just started to build and, therefore, by your junior/senior year there is so much weight(points) added to your gpa that getting A's won't dramtically increase or decrease your gpa.
Like they say..build a good foundation from the beginning so you don't have to worry about it later on (like your junior or senior year)...
