i will hopefully be starting at a university this year and was wondering what i should know before i start taking my premed classes. in general like what basic knowledge should i have before i start? or will i learn all that once class starts? i just dont want to be thrown in being already far behind if you know what i mean. i did not graduate highschool, but i did get my ged, is there any classes i should take this summer to introduce me to the prereqs?

you could take like a non-majors bio course or something? I don't know your background, but typically you don't rlly need to know much of anything to take gen chem 1 bio 1 and calc 1.. although seeing as you didn't graduate high school, maybe just taking 1 science would be better. again, i don't rlly know ur circumstances, so idk for sure.

Is that you, Darkness?

Or some other Charlie Murphy?

Don't go overboard your first semester with a bunch of science classes and labs. Take maybe one, usually Biol and lab.

More pre-meds than you want to know who have torpedoed their own ships without ever leaving the harbor by taking 3 sci classes first semester of college...

so i shouldnt worry about not knowing any of the subjects because they will teach me and bring me up to date? also what prereqs would you recommend taking the first year?

You will want and need to take Biol and Chem before Physics and Organic.

I took Chem before Biol - that is fairly common. Some do it the other way around.

Then I took Physics and Organic concurrently, after the first 2 pre reqs were done...

You definitely want to take the following: Biology Inorganic Chemistry Organic Chemistry Physics Math (Calculus) English Some schools usually recommend these and or require these courses: Genetics Biochemistry Cell Biology Microbiology Behavioral Studies

I started working out of highschool, worked for 6 years, then went back to school. I was fine just starting out (I couldn't remember much from highschool). The classes went over what I needed to know. I took 2 science classes/ 2 labs/ 1 math/ and 1 english my first semester back and got As. It wasn't hard at all. It just depends on how you learn and what you can handle.
