I've read a couple of posts that say that you can ask a school who has not offered you an interview to consider speeding up their decision if you're going to be nearby for another interview. Does this hold for those of us who arenot exactly top of the line applicants? It seems to me that I may be pressuring a school into flat out rejecting me.

Any thoughts?

Nah, you aren't going to fish a rejection out of them. Although you might just get a rejection earlier than later. I tried to get two interviews scheduled for a time that I was in the area--one school offered me one and the other just ignored me. If they want to help you out, they will. If they don't, I have a hard time believing they would punish you for asking.

Has anyone just begged for interviews without the "I'm going to be in the area" excuse. (ie just plain old begging?) I've heard that this sometimes speeds up the process.
