You're absolutely right -- let's bring up my non-traditional path to medicine, and how I joined SDN in the throes of overturning a career and completely changing my life. Or, you know, my grueling years spent studying at Harvard to fulfill my sciences, while I simultaneously worked 50 hours per week to financially support my father who was battling cancer and at risk of losing his home.

...I REALLY hope you never have to know adversity like that.

If you can't take a bit of good-natured ribbing, then you're going to have an awful time being grilled by an overworked attending.

You are the type of person that I hope adcoms can recognize and reject regardless of your stats or accomplishments. That being said, I doubt you would do well on the verbal section anyways.

His post isn't unique. A premed being arrogant and condescending? Wow, we should def. be amazed. He said "radiated"! Zomg guise!! :/

He deleted the post as is his right to do and someone hacked it in, which was inappropriate. He asked people to stop dogging him and they kept on, which was silly. He brings up your sub-par stats, which was inappropriate, but you responded with a post that did nothing to really defend yourself aside from talk about how non-trad and Harvard you are.

Idk, not impressed by this thread. Leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Exactly. It was silly. All in silly fun. None of the jokes were malicious -- since when is a mix-up of a word with a definition that is the exact opposite of the author's intent NOT funny?

And, you're absolutely right, I didn't defend myself. I don't need to. Because, as you said, this is all silly *shrug* I don't think anyone is attempting to impress you, here.

The issue is he's humblebragging about having a 3.8 at a "****ty school" (his words) as a freshman. Taking someone's ego down a couple pegs does the man some good, imo.

Sorry, I came across harsher than intended. I've only been cursorily following this thread and didn't realize exactly how much backlash OP has gotten. I was trying to be helpful, but I couldn't help throwing in a snarky dig at the 'donations' system (it has always struck me as kind of funny/good that you end up feeling compelled to donate when you accidentally overstepped posting propriety) along the way. I was thinking of it as a friendly dig at the system, but with as much flak as I now see that OP has gotten, I can see how it would come across as being cruel to them.

@Turkishking sorry if it seemed like I was dissing you. As I said, I was trying to poke fun at the system, but context is everything. At this point, if I were you, I'd just unfollow the thread and let it die.

I know what you mean Turkdude, I have a similar problem. I constantly get harassed by beautiful women because I am so handsome, charismatic, intelligent, buff and interesting. I am literally swimming in female genitalia. It's a curse. Sigh, I just don't know what to do anymore with all this radiation. Should I file a complaint? Such is life I'm afraid.

This situation is something really easy to get out of by saying no and protecting your own interests, or telling them you'll charge them and if they want help they can be tutored by you.. Be selfish, don't be a passive "nice guy". I don't care if it's hot girls, the guy you like, or just because you want to be nice or are a push over, you can be collaborative (meaning you both get something out of it) without doing the work for them, and protect your own interests. I've been there, and learned to get out of this situation fast.

Protip: Being a doormat gets you nowhere in life. Don't be one, stand up for yourself. You'll have to learn this lesson sooner or later, and it's better sooner.

It's not a good to be known as a "most well known fool". I only have a dollar in my bank. I applied to work as an ER scribe, but I have to be a sophomore in college apparently..

Odd, I've never heard that before as a scribe requirement.

No worries, though...you're certainly no streampaw, and you don't lash out as crudely as most in your situation. You're fine. 😉
