Hi all, this is to discuss Belmont University in Nashville. I was interested to see who all has applied to BU for early decision and how many of you all got interviews? Also, anyone attending BU for DPT that went through the interview process and what to expect. I applied to BU, early decision and have an interview on Sept. 20. Does anyone know how many they choose from early decision or how many people get interviews? Any information would very much appreciated!

I did not apply for early decision, but I am preparing my application for priority deadline. The website states that they accept 70% of their classes from applicants from the Early decision and priority deadlines. From speaking with the admissions officer earlier in the year, she stated that chances are higher through early decision. Recent forum searches will show some previous interview questions. 5 basic questions (why pt, why belmont, etc...)

Not much help, but good luck!

I applied Early decision to Belmont and will be at the interview on September 20th. As Chablam mentioned, I also read other threads that said the interview is more relaxed , one-on-one with 5 questions. I've also read that they split us up into three groups which rotate between the interview, campus tour, and lab tour.

My wife just got an email for her interview on the 20th as well. Yay for her! 😀

Congratulation to you guys. I hope all of you made it. I have my interview for priority on November 22. How is the interview like?

As many have said the interview is very laid back! Met a girl on the plane up that had just graduated from Belmont PT and said it was the most laid back interview she had and it was definitely true! Interview day consists of a 20 min interview and tours of the facility. I was asked about 7 different questions including: why physical therapy?, describe a patient that had an impact on you, a PT scenario and how you would handle the situation, strengths, weaknesses, where do you see yourself in 5 years, difference between a PT and a PTA. I went into the interview having prepared about 15 common PT questions that could be asked and felt totally prepared for the interview!

Thanks for the updates! I finally got my application verified so hopefully there is a spot available for the interview date.

I also have an interview for the 22nd...getting excited (especially now from my understanding that it is laid back)!!!

Congrats that's exciting! Mind sharing you stats?! I am still hoping to get an interview invite from them, crossing my fingers.

Kovash and ballsandbells did you all apply at the priority deadline or regular deadline?

Curious to see if anyone has gotten put on the alternate list on here?

yeah I am also on this list as (I interviewed in November) but of course I do not have any information regarding what spot….better luck next year lol

Could any tell me if having a 3.2 pre requisite gpa with having a C in chemistry I, C in biology I and lab make you less qualified. Like the chances of even getting an interview would be none if I have those three C's. Did anyone else get accepted with a C in their grades? Also how was your GRE score? I got a 290 or converted to a 910 with a 4.0.... I plan to apply this July, but fear I will need to retake those...

just to do a little comparison.. my pre req was 3.7 and retook the class in which i got a C in. my overall GRE was 296 with a 3.5. i got shut down at 2/4 places.. interviewed and wait listed at belmont and still waiting to hear from another school. i plan on retaking the GRE this summer. thinking i need to score 300+ and I will hopefully get in. quite frankly, i would save your $ and def. retake the GRE

Belmont's average GPA is over 3.8. They are a really competitive school, and even if you retake those classes your chances probably aren't good of getting an interview or accepted. I think most places won't replace your grade but instead average your original grade and retake together. I am not trying to be mean or discourage you, I am just being realistic. You also need to retake the GRE, most places want at least at 300.

I have a 3.96 GPA and 320 GRE, and my interview could not have gone better. Unfortunately, I also applied slightly late, and by the time of my January 24th interview all their spots were already full, and I am still on the waitlist and have yet to receive any updates. I have been accepted other places and am currently planning on attending Washington University, but it would be nice to hear from Belmont.

I applied early with a pre GPA of 3.6 a GPA of 3.3ish and a GRE of 299 and was not granted an interview...hope this helps good luck!

hey I appreciate any information, yeah it can be discouraging, but I am also trying to face reality here so thank you 🙂... im am really leaning toward WKU right now or maybe TSU as well who knows

If you want to apply to TSU apply EARLY DECISION, they filled up last cycle with early decision applicants, so if you really want to go there you'll most likely need to apply early decision.

How many people on this website are on the Belmont wait list and replied with a yes that they still want to be on the wait list?

Hey everyone! I applied to Belmont in the Priority block of this cycle, and was granted an interview very quickly (which seems to be the norm for this program). I am wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on how much your academic profile contributes to your chance of acceptance POST-interview. Belmont is an extremely competitive program, and while I consider my application strong in most respects, my GPA is a little lacking.

My stats are:
GPA: 3.37 PTCAS, 3.42 w/o repeated courses
PreGPA: 3.08 (aah!) PTCAS, varies between 3.15-3.4 depending on program
GRE: 168 Verbal/162 Quant/5.5 Writing

I believe my recommendations to be very strong, and I feel confident about the interview...but it just doesn't seem like somebody with my GPA would have a chance at a ~3.75 school. But being invited to interview means that I have a shot for priority admission, right?

On a related note, does anybody know whether Belmont computes prereq GPA based solely on the "core" prereqs (chem, bio, physics, anatomy, physiology), or whether they also use their social science and statistics numbers?

Best of luck to all of you!

Just to shed some light on your question, I'll give you my honest reply.

I interviewed at Belmont last year for the Priority Block & it was really laid back and comfortable setting. What was uncomfortable was that they interviewed roughly 200 students that day for 15 chairs in the program. They accepted roughly 70% of the students from early decision last year & I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same this year - and their class size was almost cut in half this year (if I am not mistaking - last year I believe they accepted 50ish). I wouldn't worry at all about your stats, I would focus on preparing for the interview - which is really laid back & relaxed. Your GRE is exceptional (GPA is iffy), but if you can prove to them you are so much more than your GPA suggests, which i'm sure you are, it really shouldn't matter. If you have a chance to speak into that during the interview - I suggest you do - such as, my GPA is on the lower end because my major was difficult & I took challenging classes as an undergrad, etc. Don't worry about the GPA - that is out of your control for now. Just prep for the interview, knock their socks off, and you'll have a shot at getting in! Best of Luck

anyone know if Belmont has filled their class or if they are still going to hold more interviews?

I interviewed there on the 21st and they told us that they had approximately 28 (I think this was the number) seats open still and there were around 120 interviewing that day.

@floridagurl8 I am hoping so but I am not sure. I applied in December but wasn't invited for an interview in November but they said they were going to keep my application for the next round of interviews. They said they should announce the other interviews by mid-December. Since their PTCAS application officially closed on the 1st, hopefully they will let us know soon.

I was offered an interview yesterday to belmont for January 23rd. The email said that they are pretty much full but they have a few slots open. I think ill go but their email made it sound like odds were pretty slim.

@UTCdoc Were you notified by phone or email? I didn't get an email so I'm guessing a rejection letter will be coming soon.

I was notified by email. They also emailed me in november and told me they would try to offer me an interview in January but it wasnt a for sure thing because their November date was already filled.

I got that email in October too and I was hoping for a better outcome for the January interview.

Anyone planning on attending Belmont? I had pretty much ruled them out but I just received news today that I've been accepted. Now I've got to decide between Wash U and Belmont.... eeeeek!

Im waitlisted currently. Im assuming you were wiatlisted also. When did you interview?

I was, I interviewed in November sometime? It was the "priority block" but I decided to attend Wash U so they are moving down the waitlist I'm sure! Good luck!!

I just got invited to schedule an interview with Belmont today. From my understanding, it's essentially to build the waitlist, so I'm not going to get my hopes up too much, but I'm definitely going to give it my best shot and hope for the best. Decided to do an in person interview next Wednesday, instead of phone or Skype (coming from Michigan so not too bad of a trip, plus my availability is pretty open). If anyone from this cycle (I've searched the forums and have noted what others have said) has any advice, I'd really appreciate it. I have yet to have an interview this cycle, so I'm pretty nervous. Also just curious, did anyone else here get this email?
