Okay...let me have it. Do I have a shot?

I am a history major, philosophy minor. cumGPA is 3.3, sciGPA is 2.7 😳

I made 1 F in a gen chem course my freshman year, and me not being a science major...it REALLY screwed both cumGPA and sciGPA up.

If I get 20+ on the DAT, would I have a shot at getting in?

I'm sorry but I think you need to boost that 2.7 up. That's way too low... I don't think any DAT score is going to cut it, unless you get like 28AA.

Being a non science major isn't a great excuse to tell to adcoms either, there are tons of non science majors who do well in sciences as well, especially because dental school requires only fundamentals of science and not the upper divisions for the most of the time.

What year are you in? I think you should start taking upper div sciences to show the adcoms that you can actually digest science classes. You don't want to go into dental school if you cant' do science..

I think 2.7 is too low.
The dental schools can point out your science gpa as much as they want when you ask them why they rejected you and you would have nothing to say..
you should buckle up and hit the science books and raise that to a 3.0 at least. They would definately consider you with 20+ DAT with 3.0 sgpa

your chances are bad. A good DAT will help but being a 3.3/2.7 history major will hurt. Think about a masters/post-bac and retake that F (if you haven't already).

2.7sGPA with a light science course load....not even a good DAT score will be able to make up for that. I would definitely check out a post-bac.
