any work there currently? how good is their insrance plan? I know they vary but just curious as to what kind of insurance premiums to expect? Thanks

I don't know about benefits but the 10% employee discount would sure be sweet. If you are seriously considering target as an employer then you could call their HR department or a pharmacy manager and discuss benefits, they would likely know much more than anyone here.

Lol...the employee discount was going to be my contribution to this thread too. I wish there were more Target pharmacies here! They don't have any open positions for us. 🙁

I have an offer with Target to become an 'executive in charge' which is just a PIC. I start in mid-Sept. so I don't know exactly what the costs of insurance is yet. There are many choices to pick from. Employee discount is the best one: 10%

I hear it is 'retail nirvana'. Here in OH, the pharmacies are only open til 7pm and 11-3 on Sunday. Did you get an offer from them? If so, are you planning to take it? I've gotten other offers from different settings that have better hours that I am considering. Thanks.

I have no experience there but a guy my current work(hospital) worked there last year. He had only negative things to say but I think they would apply to all of retail. Basically you had to push products and cards and check people out. He had one customer tell him he was just a high paid cashier.

CVS discount is 30% on CVS brand and 20% on everything else. This excludes items already on sale. However, prices are expensive at CVS compared to Walmart.

For example,

Gallon of distilled water at CVS is $1.50 and $1 with employee discount.
It is only $0.69 at Wal-mart across the street though lol.

Also~~CVS flu shots are normally $30, and $25 for employees.

However, at Giant Eagle, flu shots are normally $25 and FREE for employees.

I have also heard CVS does not have internet access in their pharmacies, so you cant' search on the internet, check your email, or check sport scores during college football season (lol). You only have access to the CVS stuff. Where as Kroger's and Giant Eagle pharmacies both have internet access in their pharmacies here in the Columbus area.

Anyone know anything about Walgreens? I just got hired there as an intern

I don't mean to be rude but it'd be nice for this thread to stay on topic--it would also help future people looking for answers. The topic was Target, not CVS, Walgreens, or benefits *in general.* I think if you (general) respond to an existing CVS benefits thread or Walgreens or start your own, you'lll get either more responses and or find your answers there. If you aren't able to answer my question about benefits for Target, I don't expect one to be pulled out of a hat. seems like everything in this forum gets hijacked these days...If you accidentally misread my original post/title, no worries now 🙂 still plenty of time to read carefully before you get to the real world where reading carefully is a must.

Moderators, could those irrelevant posts be directed to the appropriate thread for caching purposes?

Thanks to those for responded re: Target. 🙂

So, how does everyone feel about the democratic convention?

What's the deal with airplane food?

you mean, why is it so bad? or the fact they are now starting to charge us for it? 5 bucks for some ritz crackers and processed cheese? Total ripoff.

Lucky you! Our shifts in CA are 9-9 M-F, 9-6 Sat, Sun. But, we do get overtime over 8 hrs so that's good!

I have never seen a Target with a drive-thru windows so I guess that's a nice thing.

It's funny how Kroger's claims they like building pharmacies to keep people shopping in their stores, yet every new pharmacy is getting a drive-thru window.

Target health insurance varies by region. In our region, it is not a good plan. We are on a POS plan and it is 35 for PCP, and 55 copay for specialist. Any procedure is 80/20 after a deductible. My wife had a child last year and it cost us over 4k out of pocket.

Two years ago when I was working for a major accounting firm and we had our first child, it cost 35 bucks.

I currently work for Target as a pharmacist. Target's benefits are pretty standard. Not great, not horrible. But it depends on the region as one poster already stated.
