Hi all, incoming MS1 here,

Quick question for you: what are some of your favorite note taking apps to use for school? I used Notability heavily in undergrad on my iPad, and will continue to do so. However, I've heard lots of debate between apps such as Evernote and Onenote for taking notes on a laptop or PC. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

OneNote is good for being able to import PDFs and to type your notes. This will be more than sufficient for the majority of your classes. Notability really shines for classes where typing is actually less efficient than writing/drawing, which is basically biochem and anatomy.

What iPad do people recommend for PDF annotation/management/storage? And also apps for flowchart/mental maps?

Pro with the Apple Pencil. Got one for grad school and I love it. I use notability for everything you mentioned above, and it can be set up to automatically sync with google drive for cloud storage. You can also record lectures with the app and during playback, jump the recording to the section you were taking notes on at the time, which is a cool feature.
