Hi all,

I'm trying to find some sort of supplementary book for Physics II (algebra based) that I am taking this summer...all the threads I searched seemed to be MCAT related, and that's not what I want. Sort of like an Organic Chem as a Second Language, but for Physics if that makes sense lol. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

This is not what you're asking, and I appologize. But, if you aren't using it, get Giancoli. Then google the solution's manual for it. I just did problems 10000000x over from the back of the book. Cramster may have finally gotten all of the answers. But, I thought the solutions manual still did a better job of explaining things---it's made by the book makers---just not sold openly to students.

I agree 100% Giancoli breaks it down great! As well, get the 1001 Examkrackers and complete the book as you take your class and everything will stay in reference to the MCAT.

Another to consider is Schaum's Outline of College Physics (Physics I and II).

Thanks very much! Has anyone tried the 3,000 Solved Problems in Physics, by Alvin Halpern? This whole class is just intimidating me...my boyfriend asked, "If you got an A in organic chem, why would physics be hard for you?" To that I can only say they are two different schools of thought!

Whats wrong with your current text? The book required at my school wasn't too bad to read and figure out.

We are using Giambattista 3rd edition...nothing wrong with it per se, but I feel like it skips steps in the solutions and I am confused as to how they got there. I don't know if that's a fault of the textbook or a fault of my own (maybe they are things I should already know).

Giancoli does skip a lot of steps and is sometimes confusing to me.

Then again, I hate physics with every fiber in my body. But it was a pretty good book.

God, I hate it too! This summer is torture! I'm trying to look on the bright side...after tomorrow, two weeks down and six to go = 25% done!! I have looked up some videos on Hippocampus that have helped, although they go into a more calculus-based explanation for some parts that doesn't apply to my algebra-based class. Thank God for open book tests.

I am taking the 2 - 6 week physics summer camp. Our textbook (Giancoli) combined with Cramster.com has been perfect. Physics 1 ends this week, and it has been an easy A.
