Hi,

I've recently taken on a research assistant position in the field of cardiac electrophysiology (I'm a 3rd year biology student) and was wondering if you experts can provide me the names of some textbooks and other resources for a beginner learning cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.

Thanks in advance.

Without basic classes like anatomy/physiology, pathophysiology, etc. it will be difficult to appreciate any of the clinical aspects of cardiology. You can check out Cardiovascular Physiology (Lange Series) and Clinical Cardiology Made Ridiculously Simple. Both are available on Amazon. This website is also great for beginners: http://www.cvphysiology.com/. Good luck.

A medical physiology text would probably be the best starting point. One of the "bible" books is Guyton & Hall http://www.amazon.com/Guyton-Hall-T...id=1375631061&sr=8-1&keywords=guyton+and+hall. I thought it was pretty well written when I was a med student, but it's big and meanders a bit. Costanzo's Physiology book http://www.amazon.com/Physiology-ST...=8-1&keywords=costanzo+physiology+5th+edition is an excellent pared-down book. I think you'd need to start there before getting into more advanced clinical electrophysiology books.
