I could have sworn I read an article in the Norwegian Journal of Dentistry saying Puerto Rico had the best D school...
Harvard(maybe.)
how come ur signature in white? I can still read it clearly, you know?
hahaha . I didn't notice too.The worst one is University of Illinois at Chicago
I would say Harvard Dental School would only be mentioned by virtue of its name alone, but nothing more than that.
No, it really is the University of Nepal School of Dentistry

There was a thread just over a week ago with the exact same question. Use the search feature...and the answer is there isn't an answer, I'll go ahead and let you know...
If you think education is expensive, try ignorance. -Derek Bok
Interesting quote, but I'm not sure that education is the opposite of ignorance.

If you think ignorance is expensive, try going 400k into the hole with loans!
is the one u really want to attend the most.
However, I think there should be a few more considerations.
1. Tutition
2. Location
3. Facility
4. History
5. Curriculum
6. Reputation (Alumni, Quality of education including many things such as board pass rate, high quality professors, etc)
7. Ranking (Possibly correlated with reputation..)
As for #7 (ranking), unfortunately, there is no such official ranking.
However, U can refer to US college rankings, world universities rankings, medical school rankings, old dental schools rankings, and so on.
Finally, u should also add..........
The way ur gut is telling u about specific schools after ur interviews or actual visits.👍

I thought that there is unquestionable that Columbia university has the top dental school
Colombia University in Bogota? Quite possibly, yes it may be better than the University of Nepal.
R you guys for real ? Colombia has the best university or Nepal/?
U got to be kidding me .. You forget Germany and Switzerland, Enlgand and France dental schools and you go to Colombia and Nepal??
Give me a single good reason why is Nepal University the best???
One word- SARCASM
BTW. I have heard that Latrobe university from Australia has arguably the top dental school worldwide. Have you ever heard about this D school?

Are u crazy? There are no dental schools in Germany, Switzerland, England or France. All Europeans go to Nepal for dental schoolings and educations!

The head of Melbourne University dental school said that they are the most prestige dental school in the world.
Far from it. They're overhauling the BDSc course next year to turn it into a 4 year DDS* course.
Dean Eric Reynolds isn't a dentist. He's just a biochemist who came up w/ recaldent.
*course name still undecided

What about Latrobe university?
LaTrobe is in Bendigo, VIC which is about an hour and a 1/2 away from Melbourne. It's a new school that opened last year, and from what I can tell it's mainly composed of people who couldn't get into Melbourne.
It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
A lot of classmates got scholarships at LaTrobe and still chose to go to Melbourne. However I hear they have a more clinically oriented program (you start learning how to make cavity preps, rubber dam etc.) in first year.

I have heard that University of Melbourne makes dental teachers instead of dentists. While Latrobe university emphasises on clinical stuff. So I guess it is the better way to go. also, I have heard that most of the lecturers in LaTrobe are from Melbourne uni + the facilities in Latrobe are at highest levels. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Not sure about that, but I know Melbourne's pretty much a research school.
It'll be intresting to see what happens in the next few years w/ LaTrobe as Melbourne no longer has undergraduate dentistry.
LaTrobe however doesn't have any specializations, and I've yet to hear of any other dental schools that arn't affiliated w/ a medical school.
LaTrobe doesn't have any lecturers affiliated w/ Melbourne (to my knowledge), but they probabbly have quite a few Melbourne graduates, as Melbourne was the only dental school in Victoria.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.
It's mind boggling how anyone can expect to teach another dental student anything right out of dental school without any real world experience themselves.
Why I've taken to sarcasm so quickly in this post is that the OP never determined what criteria would determine the best school:
quality of admitted students (GPA)?
pass rate on boards?
income of dentists post graduation?
acceptance rate into residency?
simply what people say?
So by what standard? No one will ever agree on it. Read this thread and follow the links:

Here are some of the lecturers who are originally from Melbourne uni teaching staff: Werner Bischof(yep, the perio head in Melbourne), Peter Wilson(one of the senior lecturers from Melbourne uni who is now the head of the dental school in latrobe) and George Alexander.

that's funny. none of the faculty are listed on the latrobe uni website.

None?
I think we can all agree that neither Melbourne nor Latrobe University has the highest profile nor standards worldwide. Fair enough?

Exactly. To back this up, I'm going to site my source, aeeth63a, "University of Nepal School of Dentistry." Why that didn't end all debates, I'm not sure.

yes, yes and...yes.
So I guess you chose your dental school because of reason #😀
Nope. Because it was the only 1 you could get into!
