Slacker is pretty good. I've switched over to it from pandora for the most part. They are supposed to be coming out with some hardware as well.

3wk.com has the best indie rock. listening to them years ago and have found many many good bands from there. Then i just plug those bands into pandora and am good to go.

they also a have very good classic rock channel

Blast from the Past. I would listen to 3wk all the time. Haven't pulled them up in years.

www.shoutcast.com Type in an artist, genre, anything really... biggest clearinghouse of streams that I've located to date. Click "bitrate" at right for the cleanest streams.
Works in Mac or Windows rigs, not sure about Linux but assume so with a solid player.

3wk may be old but it still spreads the new goodness....their stuff consistently set me up to know who to see at the SXSW music fest in Austin year after year, up through this last one, my last moment of freedom.....

admittedly, it is indie heavy, no hip hop or metal....

I've been using Pandora on my iPhone a lot and using the aux in in my car stereo to listen while I'm commuting. I've never used it before I got my iPhone, but now I'm using it on my laptop at the library a lot too. It's freaking awesome!

close second is dc 101 and kroq in los angeles.
