If one were to try to apply to PA school, what would be a good idea for a job that would look really good on an application? Keep in mind this is relative for an undergraduate student that just left high school.

Pharm schools have pharm techs, nursing schools have certified nursing assistnats.

I was thinking being a medical assistnat would look good for PA prospects.

P.s. What job looks good for med schools? Ive always wondered that too 🙂

Thanks guys.

A better transition for nurses is actually nurse tech positions. You get to do skills relevant to whatever level you are in school plus you are paid a lot more. However, that is a different point.

I think lab or research tech jobs would look pretty good. MAs usually take vitals and gain a little bit of H/P at mot clinics which could be a good choice as well.

I am curious as well. I did do some research, although I can't remember what school I was looking at. Some schools put up information on their current class, GPA, Age, previous relevant occupation (clinical hours) I vaguely remember this one school having vet techs, veterans (with medical related jobs) Paramedics, a few RNs and LVNs, and some lab techs.

I would "guess" that depending on what school your trying to get into, if they provide information on current students, you could tailor your resume to match up.

traditional applicants to pa school are paramedics, nurses(lpn or rn) or resp. therapists.
research and lab work are not considered direct pt care and are only accepted by a few programs.
emt , medical asst., and cna are often pursued by many pa school applicants as well.

So emt, and medic assistants are good choices?

Ok cool. Do any of these temporary jobs offer the ability for certification/licensure by just taking a test without mandatory class time? Kind of like how pharm techs can be done without class.

Thanks
