Which MCAT Physics book is the best NOVA, BR, TPR or EK and what are the pro's and cons of each?

I used Kaplan and TPR for physics. It honestly doesn't matter what you use because you really use it as a refresher of stuff that you've learned from physics courses, etc. (With the rare exceptions of those few sections that your professor didn't choose to teach i.e. optics).

But in all honesty, you're probably fine going with TPR, Kaplan, EK, anything really. Just make sure you take good notes, go over concepts you don't remember, and if you find you have large deficiencies in content, then consult your old physics course notes for a refresher.

I used TBR & TPR.

A lot of people on here say TBR is the best, I wasn't overly impressed with it. It's a good resource. Pros: had some really great tips for Translational Motion & Force. Cons: overcomplicated optics.

You'll also hear Nova recommended as 2nd best, I've never used it so I don't know.

TPR was good. But I thought TBR was better for getting you to think MCAT. I used TPR for light & optics.

Hmm...thanks, and I did here about that overly complicated optics section.

I would buy TBR and NOVA if you're weak in physics.

I like TBR, but NOVA does an incredible job conceptually of a few of the chapters. Especially E&M, which is what most people have trouble with.

TBR is better for the method of attacking problems.

So many opinions, I should start a poll. Did you find NOVA to be better than TPR?

Biology: 1. EK Bio (for content) + BR Bio (for passages and further topic depth if needed) 2. TPR Hyperlearning, detail oriented 3. Kaplan

Physics
: 1. BR 2. Nova 3. TPR Hyperlearning 4. EK/Kaplan

Verbal: 1. EK 101 Verbal 2. TPR Hyperlearning Verbal Workbook 3. BR 4. Kaplan (Avoid if possible)

Organic Chemistry: 1. BR, by far 2. TPR Hyperlearning 3. EK/Kaplan

General Chemistry: 1. BR, by far 2. TPR Hyperlearning 3. EK/Kaplan

Extra Practice Material: 1. TPR Hyperlearing Science Workbook, good source of practice passages 1. AAMC Official Guide to the MCAT Exam (most representative material available) 2. EK 1001 series, helps nail down basics

Thanks, when I took orgo I did very well and believe that i have a strong understanding of it. When I did a ch of EK orgo, i scored a 12 on it. I have the BR orgo book, but it just seems so huge and cumbersome. If i feel and demonstrate confidence in my orgo is using BR for orgo necessary, could I just replace it with EK? I will certainly be using BR for my other sciences though.

thats what im sorta doing...i just briefly skim the TBR orgo and some of the passages (which are SUPER ANNOYING) but i always find myself looking at EK for my orgo days

TBR chemistry is really odd so far. A lot of the stuff in the equilibrium and solubility chapter is arcane and bizarre. I almost feel like for those chapters EK does a really good job of simplification so as not to thoroughly confuse you.

Yes, i know that orgo is just as important for everything else but i think BR is info overload. By knowing a few of those reaction you could reason the rest.
