Does anyone have any information on which branch of the military has the best opportunity to specialize in?

What I mean is depending on the different branches does one branch have more spots for specialize compared to another? I am mostly interested in Ortho and Endodontics but any information about other specialties would be appreciated.

The main reason I ask is because I am currently deciding between the Navy and Army and can't really lean one way or another. I am wanting to specialize though and possibly if one had more opportunity than the other to do so that would push me towards that branch.

Thanks,

The Army is somewhat larger than the Navy in terms of manpower - that alone gives you more slots there - of course there are more dental officers competing for those spots as well.

I never got a straight answer from anyone regarding this, but I eventually gathered that it may be slightly easier to specialize in the Army. I honestly don't know if there is any truth to that though.

Personally I would use some other criteria to make your decision.

I guess one thing to keep in mind is that, in the Army, you cannot enter a civilian residency prior to your active duty obligation. I believe you sometimes can in the Air Force (if they decide they need that type of specialist). I don't know about the Navy.

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=876105 you can search for the information for the other services as well. I know there was a discussion on here in the past about your very question.
