I just got my scores in a few days ago from the pcat I took in October and I scored in the 95th percentile for both Bio and Chem. I scored overall in the 80th percentile (I didnt do so well in the reading and verbal). I am over 24 years old and had not taken Bio, chem, or math in a few years. I used a book a pharmacist friend recommended called Pcat Destroyer by Dr. Jim Romano to study for the exam over the summer and September and it turned out it taught me everything I needed to know for Bio, chem, and math very clearly and rapidly 👍! For those of you serious about doing well on the Pcat I highly recommend this book. Its all I used. I wish I knew about this a few years ago. My results speak for themselves .

Did anyone else use this guide to study? SDN advertises it on the forums...I never really looked into it because no one ever talks/reviews about it....so I don't know if it's really helpful or not.

The destroyer is good for DAT. It specializing in it, specially when it comes to Chemistry, specially Organic.

The Organic Chemistry is kicked as in this book, but PCAT does not need organic chemistry, just simply namings and some other ideas which is the introduction into organic, not that much. PM me if you want more info about it.

As mentioned in the forum, PCAT is changed, and the new strategy is needed. I am also thinking about it cause I am retaking in January.

Someone should just come up with new inputs and create the new studying material for PCAT.

😕

I bought the PCAT destroyer... It was a useful tool. The questions are useful, and nice. I also got Dr. Collins, Kaplan, and Barron. My favorite was Dr. Collins, then PCAT Destroyer, Kaplan, and finally Barron. Barron was a waste. Dr. Collins was GREAT! Destroyer was 7 out of 10. Need further details let me know!

What about it has changed? What section? The overall format or what?

my january pcat had easy bio questions that are covered in bio review books, but the october test had questions i never seen before. they are only covered in your classes if you are lucky. i believe the other versions had much easier questions so all of this depend on luck.

I heard that the KAPLAN review book isnt all that great and there are many typos in it. What do you think? 🙁 It's so funny how you say that Dr.Collins is your favorite... I actually live in South Florida and attend Broward College where he teaches. EVERYONE SAYS THAT HIS PREP CLASS AND THE MATERIALS ARE REALLY HELPFUL AT SCHOOL! 😀

Don't you guys feel it's a bit fishy that the OP's first and only post is to extol the PCAT Destroyer? 🙄

I'm not saying the book is good or bad though. It's full of problems you may see on the exam, though a lot of them seem too in-depth. And the quantitative reasoning section has a bunch of trigonometry which isn't on the PCAT.

I agree that it is a luck too. I think that they changed PCAT, it is my personal opinion though. I had version E, so I am assuming there are 5 or 6 ( if not more) versions of PCAT. And I guess that they do change it test to test. I don't remember questions from my October PCAT, so I rely on Dr. Collins and Kaplan, but this time I try to catch any detail might be important for PCAT.
