Hi everyone- First time poster, long time reader. Thanks to everyone upfront for your informative posts on this board. I've learned a TON from reading them!!

I'm an MD/PhD student applying to ophtho this fall. My PhD research was on Alzheimer's disease and I considered Neuro, but have fallen in love with Ophtho. I'm hoping to continue to do research during and beyond residency.
Can anyone suggest programs that might be a good fit for me and that are more MD/PhD "friendly"? I'm not limited geographically.

These are the ranking of "Best Research Programs" by Ophthalmology Times in 2007. I don't think the rankings distinguish basic/clinical research. Others may know. You will surely find great ophthalmology researchers at other institutions. If you're interested in genetic eye diseases, for example, Iowa might be a program to add (Ed Stone, Val Sheffield, etc...).
