PGY1 here counting down the days to PGY2. The following takes the edge off:
On Call Principles and Protocols
The Washington Manual Internship Survival Guide
--- both of these are similar in what they present medically, with the Wash being more succinct and including logistical things like checkout and consulting tips
--- learning to ask the right questions of nurses and patients in your limited time is an art - practice it actively rather than passively
Pocket Medicine
UptoDate
--- everyone has these in some capacity
"There are two types of interns: ones who write things down, and bad ones."
--- the year is nearly as much about learning prioritization and efficiency as it is medical practice. You will forget things, unless you're one of those people who can memorize a laundry list of stuff easily, and then you will just forget fewer things. Make up a system and stick to it. My census usually has an area on it I fill with top priority or time-sensitive tasks snuggled up next to consults that have to be made, in addition to the typical check boxes beside the patient's name.
