Just to clarify, yes I have talked with advisors and searched, I just wanted another opinion. What schools do you guys think are most friendly to URM males. Whether it be financial aid, granting interviews, or anything else? Just looking for any outside opinions.

i think as an URM male with at least close to the avg. stats of a med school matriculant.. the shorter list would be schools that arent looking for URM males.... unless there are some other circumstances..such as lower gpa or mcat.. than you shouldnt have an issue applying to the usual.. which are: state schools, safe schools, middle tier and reacher.. given your stats.. dont rely on the URM status to make a difference.. even though it may somewhere.. just find find the schools you are interested in.. and go for it..

I second that! 👍

The dean of our med school recently got back from an AAMC conference where it was presented among other things that black males only make up 3% of med students nationwide. As a black male myself I can say for sure there are very few schools out there that won't want you granted that your scores are comparable. If your question is really asking which schools will let a brother slide with subpar stats then I think your options will be limited severly.

Well i want to be competitive no matter what, i guess i was more asking which are friendly with giving out money as in scholarships. I was told schools like hopkins and yale and wash u have been known to give out more money scholarship wise to black females and they might do the same for males.

I want to try and balance shooting for those top ones and ones perhaps more accessible.

I'm from Detroit and go to a HBCU and one of my friends said they saw a sign about Wayne State Law giving scholarships to graduates from HBCUs so I wanted to look into similar things for med school.
