Best schools to apply to with LOW GPA....

ICEMAN,
Don't just rely on what others tell you, do your own research. Contact and visit schools and find out which ones best compliment you. I agree with what Brocnizer said in their post about that. As for Dentin's remark about Howard and Meharry I totally disagree. First of all the schools are accredited, so they must produce competent dentists. My sister's orthodontist went to Howard and is the best doctor I have ever observed. And here at Ohio State there is a professor that went to Meharry who is well respected. At our Pre-dental club here, we met a endo dr in the military who went to Meharry and he was ranked high in the military and had acheived a lot. My point is patients would rather go to a Dr. who was compassionate and great at what they do as opposed to a Dr. Ego. Are your future patients going to refer their friends to you by saying "my dentist is the best..she's so gentle..." or are they going to say "my dentist went to school XYZ"? So do your own research, check pass rates for the boards at each school you are considering and try to find a dentist in your city that went to schools you are applying to. If you can go for a visit before you apply. I did visit Howard last year and I loved my experience. The staff was professional and very friendly. During my tour professor would stop and introduce themselves to me, wish me well, etc. This was a big thing to me, because at OSU you are lucky if your own professor does that. Hope this helps!

Yea man thanks a lot. I just have A LOT of work to do yet. The first things I have done on this dental adventure is shadow and take the Kaplan DAT. Not much research on schools or anything. Whats the best way to do that? Just read up on their websites? I cant afford to fly around a tour a bunch of schools. I am planning on touring MCG next month since I'm in Atlanta.
