Don't look at states as much as the type of area. But there are very few jobs in major cities. Some small towns have jobs. Many rural areas have jobs.
It doesn't really matter the state as much as the location within the state. There are places in CA that need pharmacists, but they're probably not as popular or desirable. My friend recently got a job in a small town outside of Sacramento. Not even sure what name it is...that's how unfamiliar it is.
To me, it really doesn't matter where I go. If you have family commitments, then location might be tougher for you.
