Hey all, I'm a new medical student currently participating in a pre-exposure program to my medical school for this coming August. As I have had an early view of the large amount of information, I have realized my need to alter my study strategy accordingly. Normally I quiz myself on everything using Anki flashcards I make by typing the answers and correcting if I missed anything. I seek to do all review cards every day to stay on top of things. With my facing additional material that takes too long through typing, I have tried orally quizzing myself on the material in the same strategy, which takes less time (when I need to be able to draw stuff, like biochemical reactions or pharmacokinetic curves, I draw this. If I also have a card that has a number of things I need to remember, I tend to type this to assure I get everything). Does anyone else have an opinion whether my new strategy is an effective way to learn? I feel I am able to remember the major details when prompted along with stating the importance of the concept, though it is not what I am used to, which is perhaps why I feel uncertain about this.

No one can answer this except you. You have to find the strategy that works best for you.

I have students who have to come to class to hear lectures form the info to penetrate. For others, class is a waste of time and they study better on their own. Some study best in groups, others find they're too distracting.

Some have to draw figures, others mind-map, and still others make tables.
